Match Report: VCF MESTALLA snatch late win against Nffc FC B (0-1)
oselu's last-gasp goal earned VCF Mestalla the win on Matchday 2 of the Premier League International Cup
Adrián Guerrero joined VCF Mestalla in January of 2019 from CF Reus Deportiu, quickly becoming an important player for the second team. Now a captain of the side, he has also been training with the first team since May, and he spoke to VCF Media to give his thoughts on a possible opportunity to debut in LaLiga before the season is out.
“The pandemic has created a bit of a surreal situation for everybody, because we have to play a lot of games in the space of a month. I'm delighted to be here and to be training with the first team. I'm ready for if an opportunity comes around,” he said, noting that it has been difficult to get back to full fitness over the past few weeks.
“We had a two month break. We trained at home, but that isn't the same because we couldn't go out or go running. The first days back are hard on your body. It was tough.”
“What we were told today was that we should be ready, because a lot of games are coming up this month and nobody knows what is going to happen. There can be injuries and suspensions. That brings about opportunities and we have to make the most of them.”
Guerrero has been working under Albert Celades, but has also been in constant contact with VCF Mestalla coach Chema Sanz over the past month.
“We've been talking with Chema and the others almost every week. He's very happy for me and for the rest of the players getting this opportunity. He's told us to work like always and to do what we know how -that we take our chance.”
“Every kid dreams of playing in the Primera División and debuting for a professional club. Just imagine doing so for a club like Valencia CF! It's an historic club who have been in the Champions League. It would be more than a dream come true,” said the ambitious Guerrero.
